During his photoshoot, Derrick reveled in the energy exuded by the flow of people, the sense of possibility and love, and the bridge’s light. He sees the images of himself in a crisp white shirt and blazer, framed by the steel trusses of the bridge, as a powerful picture of support and victory. “I felt I was the star of Nashville! I felt on top of the world. I felt like I could overcome anything. It was like being told, you are not alone. That is powerful.”
